Oil Interceptor Cleaning and Servicing
Oil interceptors are installed in surface drainage systems on sites where oil, fuel or hydrocarbons are present, such as car parks, petrol stations, vehicle workshops, transport depots and industrial yards. Their job is to capture oil before it reaches the drainage system and ultimately a watercourse. When an interceptor becomes full or blocked, it stops working and oil passes straight through to the drain. We empty, clean and inspect oil interceptors as a planned service or in response to a failure, and we handle all waste disposal in line with environmental regulations.
When we arrive on site, we use a vacuum tanker to remove the accumulated oil, water and sludge from the interceptor. We then clean the inside of the unit, check the inlet and outlet connections, inspect the condition of the separating walls and report on any maintenance or repair needs. The whole process is carried out by our ISO 14001-certified team, and we provide documentation of the clean and disposal for your compliance records.

ISO 14001 Certified Environmental Compliance
We hold ISO 14001 certification for environmental management, which underpins our approach to oil interceptor work. All waste collected from interceptors is disposed of at licensed facilities in compliance with EPA and local authority requirements. We can provide waste transfer documentation for your records, which is important for sites that are subject to environmental inspections. We cover commercial and industrial sites across Dublin, Kildare, Meath and Wicklow.
Environmental compliance is the primary driver for most oil interceptor cleaning enquiries, but a blocked or full interceptor can also cause surface flooding on site as drainage backs up. If you're not sure when your interceptor was last serviced, or if you've noticed discolouration in drainage water leaving your site, it's worth getting it checked. Call us to arrange an inspection or a service visit.

Oil Interceptor Cleaning FAQs
Most oil interceptors should be inspected at least annually and cleaned when the oil layer reaches a certain depth relative to the unit capacity. High-traffic sites such as busy car parks or transport depots may need more frequent service. We'll advise on the right schedule based on your site.
A full or failed interceptor allows oil and fuel to pass directly into the drainage system and potentially into a watercourse. This is an environmental offence and can result in significant fines and liability for the site operator. Regular maintenance prevents this.
Yes. We provide a service record and waste transfer documentation after every oil interceptor clean. This gives you a paper trail for environmental inspections and demonstrates that you've met your maintenance obligations.
Yes. We inspect the interceptor during the cleaning process and report on any damage to the structure, inlet or outlet connections. Where repairs are needed, we quote and carry them out ourselves.
Yes. We hold ISO 14001 environmental management certification and our waste disposal is fully compliant with EPA regulations. All waste is transported to licensed treatment facilities.
