About Us
Dublin drain and plumbing specialists
A family trade, run as a proper business. Dylex covers homes and commercial sites across Dublin and the surrounding counties, with a two hour response on emergencies and the phone answered around the clock.
Who we are
The trade came from my father
I came into drains through my father. He did this work, and I used to go out on jobs with him, and I liked it. I worked for the big names for a good few years before I went out on my own. It's a competitive industry, but it's work we enjoy, and that's the reason I'm still at it.
Jason, owner
Jason has been in drains since 2006 and has run Dylex as his own business since going out on his own. There are six of us now, and the business is still growing, which is the part that decides how we work.
A well known company and a well done job are two different things. The experienced lads tend to leave the big firms, and the name stays behind without them. We are still building this company, so the standard has to hold no matter who pulls up outside your house. Jason is out on jobs himself, and the five star rating across ninety five reviews is the only real evidence of whether that is working.
How we work
Fixed on the first visit, wherever it can be
The aim on every job is to fix it while we are there, and most of the time that is exactly what happens. Every van carries high pressure jetting equipment and a CCTV camera, so there is no going away and coming back tomorrow with the right kit.
Where a job genuinely cannot be finished in one visit, usually because it has run late or because what the camera found needs excavation, the leak or the flow gets stopped before we leave. Nobody is left with water running overnight. We come back the next morning and finish it.
And if we cannot fix it on the day, you still get a diagnosis. You will know what is wrong, what it takes to put right and what it costs, so the repair can be booked rather than guessed at.
What we are good at
Leak detection and blocked drains
Clearing a blockage takes twenty minutes. Working out why it blocked takes longer, and that is the part that decides whether you are ringing somebody again in four months.
So every job starts with the cause. Roots, a collapsed section, a fall laid wrong, grease, or something that went down a toilet that never should have. You are told what we found in plain language, with the camera footage where there is footage to show you, and you are told which of those is a quick job and which is not.
Leak detection is the work we would put our name to over anyone else's. Finding water that has got in somewhere it should not be, without taking a wall or a floor apart to look for it, is a specific skill and it is the one we are known for.
The technical side
What is on the van, and why it matters
Rodding
Clears most domestic blockages and is the cheapest thing that works, so it is what we try first.
Domestic drain cleaningHigh pressure jetting
Shifts what rods will not, and it scours the pipe wall instead of punching a hole through the blockage. That is the difference between a drain that runs today and a drain that runs the way it did when it was laid.
High pressure jettingCCTV survey
For a drain that keeps blocking, a house you are buying, or a situation where somebody needs evidence. Usually same day, one to three hours on site.
CCTV drain surveysNo dig repair
A defect can often be lined from the inside rather than dug up, so your driveway stays where it is.
No dig repairsDrain mapping and smoke testing
Odour investigation and rodent investigation are the diagnostic end of the same work. If something smells, floods or lets rats in and nobody can tell you why, that is a job for a camera and a smoke test rather than a guess.
Drain mapping
Certification and guarantees
What we stand behind in writing
ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified
Quality management and environmental management. Both are audited standards rather than badges, and for commercial customers they are often the difference between being allowed on site and not.
RGI registered and fully insured
We carry full public liability insurance, with the certificate available on request.
Five year guarantee on civil works
Civil works, dig ups and pipe replacement carry a five year guarantee. That is the work where a guarantee actually means something.
Parts carry the manufacturer's warranty
We do not put our own warranty on somebody else's product, but if a part fails we go back to the manufacturer on your behalf rather than sending you off to do it.
The flow gets stopped on the day
Nobody is left with water running overnight, and the diagnosis is guaranteed even where the repair itself has to be booked for another day.
Licensed waste disposal, with the docket
Waste from septic and tanker work goes to a permitted disposal facility and you get the docket for it. That docket is what you produce if your system is inspected.
Where we work
Dublin and the counties around it
We cover Dublin city and county, north and south, and out into Kildare, Meath and Wicklow. Naas, Newbridge, Navan, Ashbourne, Bray, Greystones and Wicklow town are all ordinary working days.
Septic tank and percolation work takes us further out again, because that is where the tanks are.
